Permits must be shown at all times if you are disposing of items as detailed below:
If you are a resident of Central Bedfordshire and using a van, pick-up large trailer or car towing a single axle trailer (from 1.2 m x 0.9 m up to 1.8 m x 1.2 m) then you will need a waste permit for DIY Waste, fridges, freezers and tyres.
A permit is also required if you are using a car, including MPVs and 4 x 4s, plus hobby trailer up to 1.2 m x 0.9 m and have more than 3 items of DIY waste per month.
Waste permits are free and you can apply for one on Tel: 0300 300 8080 or on Central Bedfordshire Council's website www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk.
Examples of DIY waste (Maximum 6 items)
1 bath tub
1 toilet pan
1 wash basin
1 water tank
1 standard door
1 kitchen worktop (maximum length 1.5m)
1 kitchen unit
1 window frame
1 tree stump (maximum 100mm diameter)
1 fence panel and post
1 sack (100 litres) of soil or rubble
2 sacks (100 litres of other DIY waste, eg tiles)
Permits are also required for:
- fridges/freezers - restricted to one of each within a 12 month period
- tyres - restricted to 2 tyres within a 12 month period. Although, ideally all tyres should be disposed of by the garage/service centre when the tyre is changed.
